ECONOMIST CHARITABLE FUND AWARD!


FCM is launching a new exciting project called the Hub, providing a series of workshops and training sessions for child-carers and young adults. We have been awarded a grant by the Economist Charitable Fund to make that happen which is beyond awesome. The Hub is launching this summer, more updates to follow soon!

DROP AND SHOP HACKNEY CITY FARM


Our first ever Drop and Shop event was so much fun. Thanks to the Hackney City Farm for hosting us, Frogprince for the great kids entertainment and to everyone who dropped or shopped or had some of the fantastic cakes on offer. THE 2014 BRITISH 10K RUN

TAILOR SHOP SUCCESS


FCM funded a group of young adults to attend sewing courses, provided start-up funds and business training. Their hard work is now able to support the entire orphanage. Well done, girls! FUNDRAISING: RUN FOR COVER


FCM is organising a charity run later this year, date TBA. As a charity, FCM is growing bigger and growing up, which means that we need to pay decent salaries to our staff in Burma. Please help us raise money for our cover charges, which is basically the money needed to keep us going. RUN FOR COVER will be hosted in several cities around the world. FIRST FCM TALENT SHOW


Volunteers organised the first FCM Talent Show, including 150 children from four orphanages. Around 200 participants attended. You can find the complete report here.

BEIJING SECOND HAND SALE


More than 50 people joined us under a blue-sky in the beautiful courtyard surroundings of the Irresistible Caf�. Beijingers donated their unwanted clothes, accessories and books raising more than �200. Thanks to MQ Wines who raised another �450 in drinks sales;The Beijinger for featuring the event online; UCCA for providing coat racks and hangers on the day; Marian from the Irresistible Caf�; and big thanks to Jenny Chu who donated her Yangon photograph for our silent auction. We made another �30 from the sale. Success!

THE $1,000 CHALLENGE


FCM launched the $1000 Challenge on Facebook. Together with Alexa's handicraft sale, $300 from our carolling volunteers and another $300 donation, we were able to dig a well and help the agricultural project, which had suffered some setbacks. Well done.

STILL SMILING - PHOTO ESSAY


Mai, one of our Yangon-based volunteers, has won the Paris-Match Prize for 'Best Photo Essay' at the Yangon Photo Festival 2010. This children's cancer ward is one of the many centres that FCM's university student volunteers visit, providing the kids with much needed distraction from their medical treatment.
